First Guardian Mask
Guardian Mask $60, 300 mile
trips to the Veterinary Teaching
Hospital, special place in a little girl's heart--priceless. MJR

Dear Sid,
It was great talking with you tonight. I
will be ordering the mask tomorrow after I measure 'Babydoll". Tho't
I would send a picture so you could put a face to the order. You
must have a great sense of satisfaction to be able to help so many
horses and people.

May 2005 "The Diseased Eye" |
Camera: Digital
Horse: Rennaissance Man
Condition: Uveitis
Breed: Appaloosa
|
 |
Description:
Double blue eyed app. Came down with disease on January
19th, 2005. Eyes turned green as you can see in the photo,
eyes began to turn blue again March 19th, 2005 after
reoccurring bouts during this time period. One eye has lost
up to maybe a quarter percent of sight, but the other eye is
a quarter to a half. The mask has help to cut down on the
pain caused by glare off of snow and sun directed towards
his eyes. He has been on several medications and under
constant vet care.

Condition: Uveitis
Breed: Appaloosa |

Description -Ranger was rescued from a ranch 2 years ago, he
had an eye injury and his left eye had shrunken away. As he
was cared for and the eye was treated for injury, it regained
some fullness, but he now has Uveitis in it. He has a mild
case in the other eye. He is the most forgiving horse you
could meet- just sweet and trusting. He is 13 years old, and
is a true angel. People often stare at his "bad" eye and the
makeshift mask I use (made from an old fly mask). We'd love a
Guardian to help this guy feel even better and look cool! We
ride on a mounted drill team, so we could really show it off. |

Horse: Nova
Condition: Uveitis
Breed: Standardbred/Arabian |
 |
Description: This is a picture
of my mare, Nova. She's a 23 yr. old, 14.2 hh
Standardbred/Arabian. She's been having little bouts of
weeping eye over time, but her first explosive episode was
in December 2004 after an eye injury (a foreign object poked
her eye, perhaps a twig?). Since then, she's been suffering
with what was diagnosed as uveitis about once a month for a
period of 3-7 days. Symptoms have been mild to extreme pain,
swelling, yellow puss discharge and tearing. Her eye now has
a blue haze over the entire surface. We are devastated but
ever hopeful that the Guardian Mask is the answer to our
problem and the answer to our prayers!

Cadr-Brenin
Playing: First chance to
run after 38 days in the hospital
|
Description: Brenin was
suffering from an Indolent Corneal Ulcer resulting from an
infection due to a scratch in October 2004. After a month
of treatment at home, our veterinarians referred him to the
Marion DuPont Scott Equine Medical Center at Morven Park in
Leesburg, Va. After progressively more aggressive
treatment, he finally responded by growing the needed blood
vessel to begin the healing process. On January 8, 2005,
after 38 days, he was allowed to go home where we continued
his treatment. Because his eyes were still very sensitive,
he needed the Guardian mask to protect him. The picture was
taken when he got home and got his first chance to run after
about 9 weeks in stalls. His most recent recheck indicates
all is going well but he will continue to wear the mask when
he is turned out as his recovery will take a few more
months. he is back in training for his budding eventing
career.
