Description: Brenin was
suffering from an Indolent Corneal Ulcer resulting from an
infection due to a scratch in October 2004. After a month
of treatment at home, our veterinarians referred him to the
Marion DuPont Scott Equine Medical Center at Morven Park in
Leesburg, Va. After progressively more aggressive
treatment, he finally responded by growing the needed blood
vessel to begin the healing process. On January 8, 2005,
after 38 days, he was allowed to go home where we continued
his treatment. Because his eyes were still very sensitive,
he needed the Guardian mask to protect him. The picture was
taken when he got home and got his first chance to run after
about 9 weeks in stalls. His most recent recheck indicates
all is going well but he will continue to wear the mask when
he is turned out as his recovery will take a few more
months. he is back in training for his budding eventing
career.
